Supernatural Creatures
Once, supernatural creatures were so rare, they were known only as legends and myths. Then the Portal to the Underworld was opened, releasing untold numbers of supernatural creatures and their evil Lord, called Malivord. Even after Malivord was sent back to the Underworld and the Portal sealed, the creatures remained, forcing humans to live in protected cities or face almost certain death at the hands of a monster.

Fangbeasts
Perhaps the most feared of the Underworld's creatures, Fangbeasts are closely tied to Malivord and lurk in areas where his presence is strong. They resemble fanged hounds and are capable of duplicating themselves indefinitely. In addition, they are invulnerable to all spells. If they see a human, they will kill him/her, regardless of whether they're hungry.

Shifterskins
Shifterskins take the form of any creature whose skin they wear, making them difficult to detect. They can also imitate the sounds and movements of whichever form they take. In addition, they have the ability to conjure whatever they need and are capable of accelerated healing. They feed on the flesh of humans and animals alike. Shifterskins were mistakenly dubbed "skinwalkers" by Triumvirate academics, who inaccurately equated these creatures of the Underworld (which had not been seen prior to the Lord of the Underworld's rise) with a being from Navajo lore. For this reason, those living under Triumvirate rule refer to shifterskins by this erroneous name.

Specters
Specters are the spirits of the dead who were either summoned back by magic or who remained bound to the Earth after death. Their presence is accompanied by a sudden drop in temperature and a disruption of electric devices. There are three classes of Spector: A, B, and C. Class C Specters are generally harmless and, if they were summoned rather than bound to the Earth, can even be friendly with the living. Class A and B Specters are malevolent spirits whose souls are all but lost. They enjoy killing and become stronger in the presence of fear. Most Specters start off as Class C. As they linger on Earth, they rise in class until they evolve into Wraiths.

Wraiths
Wraiths are especially dangerous evil spirits powered by the life force of their victims. They suck the life force from humans, causing their victims to rapidly age and crumble to dust. Fortunately, they are rare.
